Physiotherapist's Details
Alex has over a decade of experience in varsity sport at the University of Alberta where she learned what it means to be a member of an interdisciplinary team and truly live on the sidelines of the sporting world. This has given her invaluable experience in managing acute injuries, modifying strength and conditioning plans, but more importantly, figuring out how to integrate athletes back into their sport and keep them there.
She prides herself on her communication with all involved in an athlete's care. Alex has also spent the last few years working specifically in the field of women's health, and has a passion for assisting women at any stage of their active lives, including the perinatal period and a return to high level physical activity.
Alex and her family (3 kids included) are constantly moving and most comfortable outside. You can find them XC skiing, hiking, climbing, paddling, running and most definitely biking.
As a therapist, Alex strives to make movement a priority whether that means supporting you in navigating best way to get active, stay active, or get back in the game. Treatment interventions always include a healthy dose of education, progressive exercise, and manual therapy including hands on work and needling when needed. At ORKA, we pride ourselves on performance physical therapy. Sessions include performance testing, individualized programming dependent on testing results and re-testing to ensure progress is being made. Our access to a full strength and conditioning gym and VALD testing equipment ensures we have the right tools for the job.
