Full-Time & Part-Time Physiotherapist

Position Summary

The Physiotherapist provides assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, education, and related physiotherapy services to patients presenting with a range of musculoskeletal, functional, mobility, pain, injury, and rehabilitation needs.

The Physiotherapist uses professional judgment and evidence-informed practice to assess patient needs, establish appropriate treatment goals and plans, provide authorized physiotherapy interventions, monitor patient response and progress, and modify treatment as clinically appropriate.

The position works within a multidisciplinary clinic environment and collaborates with other practitioners and healthcare providers where appropriate to support coordinated, effective, and patient-centred care.

Primary Responsibilities

Patient Assessment & Clinical Evaluation

Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments, including relevant health history, presenting concerns, functional limitations, movement, mobility, strength, range of motion, pain, and other clinically appropriate findings.
Identify patient needs, treatment priorities, functional goals, precautions, contraindications, and other factors relevant to safe and appropriate physiotherapy care.
Perform ongoing reassessment and evaluation of patient progress and response to treatment.
Use professional judgment to determine whether physiotherapy treatment is appropriate and recognize circumstances requiring modification, consultation, referral, or other appropriate action.
Communicate assessment findings, treatment recommendations, expected outcomes, and relevant considerations clearly and professionally with patients.

Treatment Planning & Physiotherapy Services

Develop and implement individualized, evidence-informed treatment plans based on assessment findings, patient goals, professional judgment, and applicable standards of practice.
Provide physiotherapy interventions within the Physiotherapist’s education, training, competence, professional authorization, insurance coverage, and River Stone-authorized services.
Provide appropriate manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, rehabilitation, movement and functional training, and other authorized physiotherapy interventions.
Provide authorized physiotherapy modalities and treatment technologies, including Shockwave Therapy and Laser Therapy, where appropriately trained, competent, authorized, and permitted to do so.
Monitor patient response to treatment and modify treatment plans, interventions, frequency, goals, or recommendations as clinically appropriate.
Establish and maintain appropriate treatment plans and discharge or transition plans based on patient progress, needs, and professional judgment.
Use physiotherapy equipment, devices, technologies, and treatment modalities safely and appropriately in accordance with applicable requirements, manufacturer instructions, and River Stone procedures.

Patient Education & Self-Management

Educate patients regarding their condition, treatment plan, rehabilitation goals, expected progress, and relevant precautions or considerations.
Provide appropriate therapeutic exercise, home exercise, activity modification, injury-prevention, ergonomic, posture, movement, and self-management recommendations.
Support patient understanding and participation in treatment planning and rehabilitation.
Communicate in a manner that supports informed decision-making, realistic expectations, and appropriate patient involvement in care.

Clinical Documentation & Records

Complete accurate, professional, and timely clinical documentation of assessments, treatments, patient response, progress, recommendations, and other required clinical information, including completion of SOAP notes within 48 hours of the patient encounter.
Maintain SOAP notes and other clinical records in accordance with River Stone requirements and applicable professional, regulatory, privacy, and documentation standards.
Ensure documentation appropriately supports continuity of care and accurately reflects services provided.
Complete required treatment plans, reports, forms, correspondence, and other clinical documentation associated with patient care.
Complete documentation and reporting requirements associated with motor vehicle accident (MVA), workers’ compensation (WCB), insurer, and other third-party funded or coordinated care, where applicable to the patient’s treatment.
Communicate and provide clinical information to insurers, case managers, healthcare providers, legal representatives, or other authorized parties only as appropriate to the Physiotherapist’s role and in accordance with applicable consent, privacy, professional, and River Stone requirements.
Use River Stone’s designated clinical documentation, health information, booking, and practice management systems appropriately and securely.

Collaboration, Referral & Continuity of Care

Collaborate appropriately with River Stone practitioners and other healthcare providers where beneficial or required for patient care.
Communicate relevant clinical information appropriately and in accordance with patient consent, privacy requirements, professional obligations, and applicable law.
Recognize when patient needs fall outside the Physiotherapist’s scope, competence, or available services and facilitate appropriate referral, consultation, or escalation.
Support continuity and coordination of care while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and accountability for independent clinical decisions.
Participate in interdisciplinary communication, case discussion, or care coordination where appropriate.

Clinic Operations & Practitioner Responsibilities

Maintain treatment rooms, clinical equipment, and work areas in a professional, organized, safe, clean, and patient-ready condition.
Complete required treatment room setup and reset between patients.
Clean and disinfect treatment surfaces, clinical equipment, devices, and other applicable items following use and in accordance with River Stone procedures and applicable infection prevention and control requirements.
Maintain treatment equipment appropriately, including routine care within the scope of the position, and promptly report damaged, malfunctioning, unsafe, or unavailable equipment.
Monitor and restock treatment room and clinical supplies as required and communicate supply needs when replenishment is required.
Complete laundry and linen-related duties associated with treatment room and clinic operations.
Work collaboratively with practitioners, administrative staff, and management in maintaining shared treatment spaces, equipment, supplies, laundry, and general clinic operations.
Support efficient patient flow and appropriate use of scheduled treatment time.
Communicate scheduling, equipment, supply, safety, patient-care, or operational concerns to the appropriate team member or management.
Participate in applicable staff meetings, practitioner meetings, training, clinic initiatives, and professional development activities.
Contribute to a shared-responsibility environment in which practitioners, administrative staff, and management work together to support effective clinic operations and an exceptional patient experience.
