.8 Physiotherapist, ARBI (Calgary)

eporting to the Program Manager, the Physiotherapist plays a key role in the delivery of ARBI’s neurorehabilitation programming. 

Working closely with an interdisciplinary team, the Physiotherapist provides direct client care through functional assessments, goal-based treatment planning, and implementation of individual and group treatment sessions. The Physiotherapist contributes to the ongoing development and continuous improvement of clinical rehabilitation programming, with a focus on high-quality, client-centered care.

Provide direct, impact-driven neurorehabilitation through individualized and group treatment plans.

Mentor and guide Rehabilitation Assistants, volunteers, and practicum students in a supportive environment. 
Contribute to applied research, quality improvement, and evidence-informed rehabilitation best practices.

Key responsibility areas: 

Program Delivery & Client Engagement – 70%
Conduct client-centered functional assessments, including standardized testing aligned with ARBI protocols. 
Provide direct treatment to clients with neurological conditions and develop individualized rehabilitation plans. 
Deliver meaningful one-to-one and group-based rehabilitation sessions, both in-person and in community-based settings. 
Collaborate with ARBI’s interdisciplinary team, including Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Psychologists, Recreation Therapists, and Social Worker, to support holistic care. 
Design structured rehabilitation programs for implementation by Rehabilitation Assistants, volunteers, or caregivers under supervision. 
Liaise with families and external care providers to support client progress and facilitate discharge planning or transitions. 
Track attendance, participation, and goal-related progress, maintaining accurate documentation per ARBI standards. 
Participate in client reviews, case conferences, and interdisciplinary team discussions to support coordinated service delivery. 

Supervision, Program Operations & Administration – 30%
Train, mentor, and supervise volunteers, practicum students, and caregivers involved in client care and program delivery. 
Support and contribute to applied research or quality improvement projects related to client care and rehabilitation best practices. 
Advocate for individuals with brain injuries and promote ARBI’s mission by supporting awareness and education in the community and healthcare settings.

Qualifications:  

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy. 

• Active registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta. 

• Minimum 3 years of experience in neurorehabilitation or a related field. 

• Demonstrated experience or strong aptitude for supervision, mentorship, or team guidance. 

• Valid CPR and Emergency First Aid certification. 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt care approaches to diverse client needs. 

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment. 

• Passion for supporting individuals with acquired brain injuries in achieving functional goals and fully participating in community life.
