Effective January 1, 2027, Alberta will introduce Care‑First, a new auto insurance system designed to improve health benefits while supporting long‑term affordability and system stability. Care‑First will provide enhanced medical, rehabilitation, and income‑replacement benefits to all Albertans injured in an auto accident—regardless of fault—while continuing to hold at‑fault drivers accountable through higher premiums.
The Government of Alberta (GoA) previously hosted a Care-First webinar on Thursday, May 28th to introduce the concepts of Care Pathways and the Program of Care; foundational elements that will support timely access to care, consistency in treatment, and improved outcomes for injured Albertans.
